The Nitty Gritty:  Working with Cadence Design Studio

Cadence Design Process & Tools:

We utilize private pin boards on Pinterest to more efficiently get at the aesthetic and level of finish you want to achieve on your project.  If there is a significant other involved with the project, it might also spark conversation about what you both like and can agree on. For sharing files, we use Dropbox. Frequently files are too large to e-mail back and forth, and having a series of folders always available for you to access is very convenient. If you don’t want to sign up for Dropbox, you can just click on the links and download the files all at once.

Business Hours/Remote Meetings/cancellations:

We are open and work Monday-Friday from 8-5. Please note that meetings at our home studio are by appointment only. We aren’t open and typically don’t work on weekends; we prefer meetings during business hours. If we do need to meet repeatedly on weekends or after hours, we may charge an extra fee. We ask that you provide 24-notice for any cancellation, as we do spend time preparing for meetings with you. We are happy to do video conferences to make it more convenient to meet with you. Zoom has great screen sharing capabilities where we can present the project updates live to you on a tablet, smartphone or computer.

Payments, Invoices, and Initial payments:

We are a small studio and only take on a few projects at a time. This means that we appreciate and rely on prompt payment. We like to make this as easy as possible so we bill through Quickbooks or Paypal so you can use your bank account or credit card. If you prefer to write checks, that works too! Just let us know your preference. Payments should be made to “Cadence Design Studio LLC”. Cadence will send you an invoice after each phase of work is completed or at the end of each month (whichever comes first). Payments are due upon receipt. Accounts not paid within 15 days of the date of the invoice are subject to a 2% monthly finance charge. If you prefer to pay with a credit card we require a 5k invoice minimum.

Contracts and Insurance:

We utilize AIA (American Institute of Architects) standard legal contracts for our services. For most projects, we use AIA B105-2007. Cadence Design Studio is currently insured for professional liability through USI Insurance Corporation, and a copy of this can be provided at the Client’s request.
